Solar Forecast Integration
SunPulse now predicts your solar production using Forecast.Solar and Open-Meteo — completely free, no API keys required.
We've added solar production forecasting to SunPulse, combining two free APIs to give you a clear picture of what your panels will produce.
How It Works
SunPulse fetches data from two complementary sources every three hours:
Forecast.Solar
This service takes your panel configuration — location, tilt angle, azimuth, and installed capacity (kWp) — and returns hourly watt and watt-hour estimates for the next two days. No API key needed, just your coordinates and panel specs.
Open-Meteo
For the weather side, Open-Meteo provides detailed solar radiation data: Global Horizontal Irradiance (GHI), Direct Normal Irradiance (DNI), Diffuse Horizontal Irradiance (DHI), and Global Tilted Irradiance (GTI). Plus cloud cover and sunshine duration. Also completely free with no authentication.
Setting It Up
Head to Settings > Forecast in your SunPulse dashboard. Enter your panel location (latitude/longitude), tilt angle, azimuth, and installed kWp. Toggle the forecast on and you're done.
The data is stored hourly in the database, so you can compare forecasts against actual production over time.
What's Next
We're planning to add forecast vs. actual charts to the dashboard, so you can see how well the predictions match reality. Stay tuned.
